May the 4th be with you!

Happy Star Wars Day!

I managed to finish my first "normal" dress on this day. And it is... Star Wars inspired!
Here's my inspiration costume:
via The Padawan's Guide to Star Wars Costumes
Padme wears this outfit in episode 1 on Tatooine, where she is undercover and therefore not wearing overraged fantasy princess dresses. I've always liked this look of her.

I have a pattern for a 1950s/60s style swing dress I wanted to try for years now. Fortunately it fits me pretty darn well. And fortunatly I got all the materials, which are:

# 2,50m prewashed grey linen (! store-bought! gorgeous idea! I could start right away) 9,90€/m
# some grey-blue cotton leftover from stash
# black velvet circle from stash
# a biiig red button
# thread
(a lot, because my sewing machine had a bad day and ate like half of the reel for nothing),

on Saturday so I could sew on Sunday and I made this:

I am sooo happy how it turned out! Because it is a dress I can actually wear everyday, for university and for swing dance events, but it is still nerdy and Star Wars - themed! I mean, how cool is that!?

My brother thinks it looks like R2D2 (just because of the red button on the belt...), but in my eyes it's truly Padme-inspired. Which I love.
